Deutsche Bank Hires Ex-Credit Suisse Veteran For Southeast Asia Role

Deutsche Bank has appointed Serene Wee, a former long-standing senior Credit Suisse figure, as managing director and senior client partner in Southeast Asia Wealth Management.

Based in Singapore, Wee joined Deutsche Bank’s International Private Bank in February. She reports to Anurag Mahesh, vice chairman IPB for Asia-Pacific and interim head for IPB for Southeast Asia, Deutsche said in a statement yesterday.

"With over 26 years of experience in the banking and wealth industry, Serene’s deep market expertise will support further expansion of our South-East Asia business,” Mahesh said. 

Wee will focus on delivering tailor-made wealth management solutions to ultra-high net worth clients in the region, including family offices, trusts, foundations, and entrepreneurs.

Wee joined from Credit Suisse where she spent 19 years focusing on the UHNW client segment. Prior to that, she worked as a relationship manager at BNP Paribas, and was a treasury trader with The Royal Bank of Scotland Singapore Branch.

Wee holds a bachelor of arts in social sciences from the National University of Singapore as well as a master of business administration from Macquarie University. She is fluent in English and Mandarin, as well as other dialects including Hakka, Hokkien and Cantonese.

Last month Deutsche Bank announced that it had appointed Johanes Oeni – also ex-Credit Suisse – as head of the international private bank, Southeast Asia. In addition, Esther Wong also joined in January as an MD and market head in Southeast Asia.
